Sector Watch: Numerous Gurus Hold Four Industrial Products on 52-week Low

This week the industrial products sector has fallen to the ninth position of the top 10 U.S. sectors with the most companies on a 52-week low. The industrial products sector currently has 20 companies out of 243 on a 52-week low. The low ratio is 0.08. Here’s a review of four companies screened for yield, active insider trading and billionaire investors.

U.S. Industry Sector: Industrial Products

Highlight: Valmont Industries Inc. (VMI, Financial) - Yield 0.70%

The current VMI share price is $134.59, or 18.4% off the 52-week high of $164.93.

Up 1% over 12 months, Valmont Industries Inc. has a market cap of $3.6 billion, and trades at a P/E of 12.60 and a P/B of 2.50.

Founded in 1946, Valmont Industries Inc. provides engineered support structures and utilities support structures. The company produces fabricated metal products, pole and tower structures, as well as mechanized irrigation systems.

Guru Owners: As of the second quarter of 2013, Chuck Royce is the top guru owner with 1,376,825 shares, representing 5.14% of shares outstanding. Royce reduced his position by 5.9% in that quarter, selling 86,340 shares at an average price of $146.58 per share, for a loss of 8.2%.

The company produces the broadest line of furniture for the K-12 market of any manufacturer in the United States. Virco also provides a variety of products for preschool markets and has recently developed products that are targeted for college, university, and corporate learning center environments.
