As a hedge fund guru, he is recognized for having the best performance record of any investment fund in the world over its 26-year history. In both fourth-quarter 2016 and first-quarter 2017 the guru bought shares in the following stocks:

Bazaarvoice Inc. (BV)

During the fourth quarter, the guru increased the position by 6% and in the first quarter of 2017 increased it by 135.85%. The guru holds 1.99% of the company’s outstanding shares.

Bazaarvoice is a network that connects brands and retailers to the authentic voices of people where shopping is done. Its technology platform collects and displays ratings and reviews, questions, answers and stories from consumers.

Jim Simons (Trades, Portfolio) is the largest shareholder among the gurus with 3.64% of outstanding shares followed by Chuck Royce (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.64%, Mariko Gordon (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.34% and Paul Tudor Jones (Trades, Portfolio) with 0.03%.

Level 3 Communications Inc. (LVLT)

During the fourth quarter of 2016, the investor increased his stake by 20.45% and in the first quarter of 2017 increased it by 92.92%. The guru holds 0.05% of the company’s outstanding shares.

Level 3 Communications is a facilities-based provider of a range of integrated communications services that owns or leases a substantial portion of the plant, property and equipment necessary to provide its services.

Allot Communications provides broadband solutions, focused on developing mobile, fixed and enterprise networks. Its deep packet inspection technology identifies and leverages the business intelligence in data networks and in network traffic.

Simons is the largest shareholder among the gurus with 2.06% of outstanding shares.

Exa Corp. (EXA)

The guru increased his position by 31.55% during the fourth quarter and by 3.03% in the first quarter. The guru holds 9.51% of the company’s outstanding shares.

Exa develops, sells and supports simulation software and services to vehicle manufacturers to enhance the performances of their products, reduce product development costs and improve the efficiency of their design and engineering processes.

Another notable shareholder among the gurus is Simons with 1.62% of outstanding shares.

Dell-VMWare Tracking Stock VÂ (DVMT)

During the fourth quarter, the guru increased the position by 213.91% and in the first quarter increased it by 69.97%. The guru holds 0.17% of the company’s outstanding shares.

Dell-VMWare Tracking Stock V is an information technology company. It offers virtualization and cloud infrastructure solutions, which enable organizations to manage IT resources across complex multicloud, multidevice environments.

Sigma Designs Inc. (SIGM)

Sigma Designs is a system-on-chip solutions provider offering intelligent media platforms for use in the home entertainment and home control appliances. It offers televisions, media connectivity, smart home devices and mobile Internet of Things product.

MakeMyTrip Ltd. (MMYT)

The guru increased his stake by 27.93% during the fourth quarter and in the first quarter again added to his position by 12.57%. The guru holds 1.49% of the company’s outstanding shares.

MakeMyTrip is an online travel company in India. Through its primary Web site, www.makemytrip.com, and mobile platforms, travelers can research, plan and book travel services and products in India as well as overseas.

Frank Sands (Trades, Portfolio) is the largest shareholder among the gurus with 2.06% of outstanding shares followed by Manning & Napier Advisors Inc. with 1.48% and Simons with 0.37%.

Mondelez International Inc. Class AÂ (MDLZ)

During the fourth quarter the investor increased his stake by 43.38% and in the first quarter increased it again by 169.12%. The guru holds 0.08% of the company’s outstanding shares.

Mondelez International manufactures and markets snack food and beverage products. It produces packaged food products, including biscuits, chocolate, gum and candy, beverages and cheese and grocery.
