Northfield Bancorp, Inc., through its main subsidiary, Northfield Bank, provides a range of banking services mainly to individuals and corporate customers in Richmond and Kings Counties, in New York, and Union and Middlesex Counties, in New Jersey. The bank's main business consists of originating commercial real estate loans and multifamily real estate loans, purchasing investment securities including mortgage-backed securities and corporate bonds, as well as depositing funds in other financial institutions. The bank also offers construction and land loans, commercial and industrial loans, one- to four-family residential mortgage loans, and home equity loans and lines of credit. It offers a number of deposit accounts, including certificates of deposit, passbook, statement, and money market savings accounts, transactions deposit accounts and individual retirement accounts. Deposits are the bank's main source of funds for its lending and investing activities. It also uses borrowed funds as a source of funds, mainly from the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York. In addition to traditional banking services, the bank offers insurance products through NSB Insurance Agency, Inc.
