SunEdison Semiconductor Ltd is incorporated in Singapore. The Company is engaged in the development, manufacture and sale of silicon wafers to the semiconductor industry. Wafers are used as the base substrate for nearly all semiconductor devices, which in turn provide the foundation for the entire electronics industry. The Company sells its products to all of the semiconductor manufacturers internationally including integrated device manufacturers and pure-play semiconductor foundries, and to companies that specialize in wafer customization. The raw material used in by the Company in its manufacturing process is polysilicon. The Company's competitors are Shin-Etsu Handotai, SUMCO Corporation, Siltronic AG and LG Siltron. The Company's operations and facilities are subject to U.S. and foreign laws and regulations governing the protection of the environment and its employees, including those governing air emissions, water discharges, the management and disposal of hazardous substances and wastes, and the cleanup of contaminated sites.
