What Is the Buffett-Munger Screener?
Warren Buffett's investing evolution — from Benjamin Graham's "cigar butt" deep value approach to buying "wonderful companies at fair prices" — was largely driven by Charlie Munger's influence. Munger convinced Buffett that paying a fair price for an excellent business beats paying a bargain price for a mediocre one.
The Buffett-Munger Screener identifies stocks that match this philosophy: companies with predictable revenue and earnings growth, consistently high returns on equity, conservative debt levels, and prices at or below GF Value. These are the kinds of durable, high-quality businesses Buffett and Munger have favored throughout their careers at Berkshire Hathaway.

How the Buffett-Munger Screen Works
Each stock must pass multiple quality and value filters to appear on this list:
- Predictability Rank — Company must have predictable, consistent revenue and earnings (GuruFocus proprietary metric)
- Return on Equity (ROE) — Consistently above 15%, indicating strong capital allocation
- Debt-to-Equity — Conservative balance sheet with manageable debt
- GF Value — Stock must trade at or below fair value based on GuruFocus's proprietary valuation model
- Earnings Growth — Consistent growth over 5–10 years, demonstrating a durable competitive advantage
The list updates daily as stock prices and financial data change. Stocks are added or removed automatically when they meet or fail the screening criteria.

The Buffett-Munger strategy focuses on buying wonderful companies at fair prices, rather than fair companies at wonderful prices. It combines Warren Buffett's value investing roots with Charlie Munger's emphasis on business quality — specifically predictable earnings, strong competitive moats, and high returns on equity.
Our screener filters for stocks that match Buffett and Munger's stated investment criteria: predictable revenue and earnings, consistently high ROE (above 15%), conservative debt-to-equity ratios, and prices at or below GF Value. The list updates daily as stock prices and financial data change.
Warren Buffett typically looks for companies with ROE consistently above 15%, ideally above 20%. Our screener uses this as one of several quality filters. A high, sustained ROE indicates that management is effectively deploying shareholder capital to generate profits.
Our backtest shows the Buffett-Munger screen has generated an annualized return of approximately 20%, outperforming the S&P 500. Past performance does not guarantee future results. The backtest reflects hypothetical results and does not account for trading costs or taxes.
Traditional value investing (Benjamin Graham style) focuses on buying any stock trading below intrinsic value, regardless of business quality. The Buffett-Munger approach adds a quality filter — it only considers companies with durable competitive advantages, predictable earnings, and strong management. This means paying a fair price for an excellent business rather than a bargain price for a mediocre one.
The list updates daily. As stock prices change and new financial data is reported, stocks may be added or removed from the screen. You can set up email alerts to be notified when stocks are added or removed.
