DELTA LLOYD NV Profile

Delta Lloyd NV is a Dutch insurance company based out of Amsterdam. The company can trace its history back to the Hollandsche Societeit van Levensverzekeringen in 1807. Delta Lloyd NV has grown through both organic means and through mergers and acquisitions. In 1967, the Hollandsche Societeit would merge with the Amsterdamsche Maatschappij van Levensverzekeringenand be renamed into Delta. The company would again go through another large merger just two years later with Nedlloyd, expanding its business into general insurance and creating the current Delta Lloyd NV. Delta Lloyd NV would be acquired by Commercial Union in 1973, but continue to operate as a completely autonomous entity in the Dutch market. The company operated with a single distribution channel in insurance intermediaries and would focus on strengthening its distribution power with its multi-channel concept and expand its sales market. Delta Lloyd NV would continue with mergers and acquisitions, including with NUTS OHRA Management in 1999, ABN AMRO Verzekeringen in 2003, and Eramus insurances in 2007. Thanks to its mergers, the company operates under the three Dutch brands Delta Lloyd, OHRA, ABN AMRO Verzekeringen. The company had its IPO in 2009 on the NYSE Euronext Amsterdam, the biggest in the financial services sector during that year. By 2013, Delta Lloyd became a fully independent listed company thanks to Aviva slowly decreasing its holdings throughout the years. The company invests most heavily in the information technology sector, which alone makes up over a fifth of its total asset allocations, and also invests in the finance, consumer discretionary, health care, real estate, consumer staples, energy, and industrials sectors, among others to a lesser degree, in order of decreasing allocation. Delta Lloyd NV operates with over 6,600 employees and now provides a variety of products including insurance, mortgages, asset management, and savings accounts. The company holds approximately 70 billion euros in total assets and turns approximately 9 billion euros in revenue.
