Jim Grant sees the American economy as slogging along. He thinks that the Fed is not going to be able to raise interest rates because of this.

When asked about what concerns him Grant sees trouble brewing in credit where consumers have stretched and strained to live beyond their means.

He points to subprime auto loans as being a clear example of this.
