Bulldog Investors Smells Value in Potential Liquidation of JPMorgan China Region Fund

Bulldog Investors LLC purchased 181,840 shares of JPMorgan China Region Fund Inc. (JFC, Financial) between March 21 and April 18 according to SEC filings.

The purchases came after the JPMorgan China Fund announced Feb. 16 its board of directors had determined to submit a proposal to liquidate the fund at the company’s next annual meeting of stockholders.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on May 11.

The China Region Fund is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company that seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation through investing in equity securities of companies in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.Â

The company has a market cap of $117.60 million, a price-earnings (P/E) ratio of 15.73, a dividend yield of 3.75% and 6.45 million shares outstanding.
