The VIX Volatility Index was lower for the day at 9.50 for a loss of -0.01 points or -0.11%.
Monday’s market movers
An optimistic outlook for President Donald Trump’s tax overhaul plan helped all three major stock indexes to reach new highs on Monday.
Economic reports affecting market trading included the following:
- The Purchasing Managers' Manufacturing Index increased to 53.1 from 52.8.
- The ISM Manufacturing Index increased to 60.8 from 58.8.
- Construction spending increased 2.5% for the year and 0.5% for the month.
