Ford Announces Quarterly Dividend

Automaker paying 15 cents with forward dividend yield of 4.98%

U.S. auto manufacturer Ford (F, Financial) has announced its most recent quarterly dividend. The company will pay a 15-cent dividend on its class B and common stock. The dividend is payable on Dec. 1 with an ex-dividend date of Oct. 20.

The common stock dividend has remained steady at 15 cents since it was increased from 12.5 cents in January 2015. In January 2012 the company restarted its dividend payouts after challenges in the automotive industry affected the company and financial markets nationwide. The dividend restarted in January 2012 at 5 cents. In the last two years the company has also been paying an annual special dividend, payable in March. In March 2016 the company paid a special dividend of 25 cents. In March of this year the company paid a special dividend of 5 cents.

The stock is trading at $12.05. Ford has 3.9 billion shares outstanding with a market cap of $47.9 billion. The company’s stock has a forward dividend yield of 4.98%.

Year to date the stock is down 0.66%. For the one-year period the stock has gained 1.18%. For the three-year period the stock has a return of -12.62%.

The company beat revenue and earnings estimates in the second quarter. Second-quarter revenue of $39.85 billion beat estimates by $2.75 billion. Second-quarter earnings per share were 56 cents, beating by 13 cents.

Revenue of $39.85 billion in the second quarter contributed to total 2017 revenue of $79 billion. At $79 billion, revenue has increased 2% from 2016. For the year, automotive revenue is now $73.6 billion and financial services revenue is $5.4 billion.

Earnings per share of 56 cents in the second quarter increased 4 cents from the comparable quarter. For the year, the company now has pretax income of $4.5 billion. Automotive has generated $4.2 billion in pretax income while financial services is reporting $1.1 billion in income.

The company’s third-quarter earnings report is scheduled for Oct. 26. Analysts are estimating earnings per share of 33 cents.
