The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6782.79 for a loss of -10.50 points or -0.15%. The VIX Volatility Index was lower for the day at 11.43 with a loss of -0.33 points or -2.81%.
U.S. market indexes were also mostly lower for the week. The Dow Jones was down -0.28%, the S&P 500 was down -0.14% and the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.47%.

Tax reform uncertainty kept stocks mostly lower for the week.
Economic reports affecting market trading included the following:
- Housing starts were reported at a seasonally adjusted average of 1.29 million, gaining from 1.135 million.
- The seasonally adjusted annual rate for e-commerce retail sales was reported at 3.6%.
- The Baker Hughes rig count increased to 1123 from 1110.
