U.S. market indexes were higher on Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 25,709.27 for a gain of 399.28 points or 1.58%. The S&P 500 closed at 2,779.60 for a gain of 32.30 points or 1.18%. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 7,421.46 for a gain of 84.07 points or 1.15%. The VIX Volatility Index was lower for the day at 16.11 with a loss of -0.38 points or -2.30%.

Monday’s market movers

U.S. market indexes started the week higher on Monday. In the S&P 500, all sectors gained except for utilities with the financial and technology sectors leading for the day.
