Turkey’s currency crisis continued to cause losses in U.S. equities on Monday. The currency is now trading at more than 7 lira per dollar as the country struggles with inflation and monetary policy issues. Oil prices were also lower Monday, causing losses in energy stocks. For the day, the energy sector led losses in the S&P 500 with a decrease of -1.28%. Health care and utilities were the only sectors to report gains.
There were no major reports on the economic calendar Monday. The Treasury held auctions for three-month and six-month bills at the following rates: three-month 2.030%, six-month 2.180%.
