Verint Systems, Lands' End, DocuSign move on quarterly financial data

Shares of Verint Systems Inc. (VRNT, Financial) jumped more than 7% after reporting second-quarter earnings of 76 cents per share on $308.49 million in revenue. The company beat earnings estimates by 14 cents and revenue expectations by $12.42 million.

“We are pleased with our strong revenue growth which was accompanied by continued margin expansion," CEO Dan Bodner said. "Given our strong results and momentum, we are again raising our annual guidance for revenue and EPS.”

Looking ahead the the year ending Jan. 31, 2019, the company expects 7% revenue growth in the Customer Engagement segment. In the Cyber Intelligence segment, it forecasted 10% revenue growth. Total revenue is projected to be around $1.24 billion. Further, diluted earnings per share are projected to be $3.15 at the midpoint of the revenue guidance, representing 12% year-over-year growth.

Shares of Lands' End Inc. (LE, Financial) fell more than 10% after reporting a second-quarter loss of 16 cents per share on $307.9 million in revenue, reflecting 1.9% year-over-year growth. The company fell 12 cents short of earnings estimates and $14.3 million short of revenue expectations.

The gross margin was 44.4%, an increase from the prior-year quarter .Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization increased 13.1% to $7.7 million.

Shares of DocuSign Inc. (DOCU, Financial) also fell in Thursday trading after reporting second-quarter earnings of 3 cents per share on $167.05 million in revenue, an increase of 33.1% year over year. The company beat earnings estimates by 2 cents and revenue expectations by $7.45 million.

The GAAP gross margin was 78%, compared to 77% in the same period last year. The non-GAAP gross margin was 81%, compared to 79% a year ago.

Looking ahead to the third quarter, the company expects total revenue between $172 million and $175 million and a non-GAAP gross margin between 78% and 81%.
