Monday’s market movers
Treasury yields continued to be a factor, causing less demand in equities. Technologies rallied on Monday, helping the Nasdaq and S&P 500 technology sectors to close with a gain. The 10-year to Two-year Treasury, however, continued to tighten to a spread of 0.2873.
Earnings reports were mostly upbeat, but this week is expected to be one of the busiest reporting weeks for the third quarter. Polaris Industries Inc. (PII, Financial) topped the day’s earnings beat list with an upside surprise of 18.47%, beating expectations by 9 cents.
Economic reports affecting market trading included the following:
- The Chicago Fed National Activity Index decreased to 0.17 in September.
- The Treasury held auctions for three-month bills and six-month bills at the following rates: three-month, 2.300%; six-month, 2.425%.

The Dow Jones Small-Cap Growth TSM Index closed at 9,601.33 for a loss of -22.66 points or -0.24%. The Dow Jones Small-Cap Value TSM Index closed at 9,571.49 for a loss of -72.01 points or -0.75%.
