Renowned value investor Chuck Royce (Trades, Portfolio) will be the keynote speaker for the 2019 GuruFocus Value Conference
Royce is the chairman and CEO of the Royce & Associates LLC. The firm manages the Royce Funds, which is a family of mutual funds that focus primarily on small-cap investing, and has been considered one of the industry's most experienced small-cap stock pickers.
Royce invests in primarily micro-cap and small-cap companies using disciplined, value-oriented approaches. He looks primarily at balance sheet strength, cash flow characteristics and returns on invested capital when choosing stocks for the funds he manages. His firm emphasizes long-term, absolute (as opposed to relative) performance.
Royce Premier Fund, the firm's flagship fund, has outperformed the Russell 2000 for the quarter, three-year, 15-year, 20-year and since inception (Dec. 31, 1991) periods as of Sept. 30. For the last 20 years, the fund has outperformed the Russell 2000 by more than 2% a year, with below-average volatility.
