U.S. market indexes reported a substantial rebound Wednesday after a week-long downtrend. The Nasdaq Composite reported the largest gain with an increase of 5.84%. In the S&P 500, energy and technology led gains. The S&P 500 energy sector was up 6.06% and the technology sector gained 5.73%. Oil prices helped to support the day's gains with their largest one-day increase in two years. Despite the rebound the government is still in the midst of a shutdown with discussion focused on $2 billion for border-wall funding.

- The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index was unchanged in October and reported a 5% year over year increase.
- The Treasury held an auction for five-year notes at a rate of 2.652%.
