Horn is the president and portfolio manager of Polaris Capital Management, the Boston-based global and international value equity firm he founded in 1995. His investment experience stretches back more than 40 years, giving him a perspective shaped by many different markets, economic cycles and investing environments.
Throughout his career, Horn has become known as an early leader in global and international investing. His approach combines detailed fundamental research with investment technology to identify value opportunities across markets around the world.
His insights have been featured by some of the most recognized names in financial media, including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Businessweek, the Financial Times, Forbes, Fortune and The New York Times. He has also appeared on CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg TV and PBS programs to discuss global markets and investing.
Horn has shared his knowledge at major investor events hosted by organizations including the American Association of Individual Investors, the Value Investing Congress, Bloomberg, Fund Forum USA and Morningstar. He has also written extensively about value investing, international diversification and the importance of looking beyond the U.S. market for investment opportunities.
His experience in global investing began long before Polaris was founded. From 1980 to 1990, Horn led his own investment counseling firm specializing in global portfolio management. He later worked as a vice president and portfolio manager at Freedom Capital Management before launching Polaris.
Horn earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Northeastern University and a master's degree in management from the MIT Sloan School of Management. His graduate thesis focused on the pricing of commodity options, with Nobel Prize-winning economists Fischer Black and Robert Merton serving as faculty advisers.
Outside of his work at Polaris, Horn remains deeply involved with MIT and several charitable organizations. He serves on multiple MIT boards and has supported education in both finance and family medicine alongside his wife, Lorraine.
During this live event, Horn will share his perspective on value investing, global markets and the lessons he has learned throughout more than four decades in the investment industry.
