American Tower Corp is a real estate investment trust and an owner, operator and developer of multitenant communications real estate. The company leases the space of communications sites to wireless service providers, and wireless data providers.

American Tower is the largest independent owner of wireless communication sites, operating more than 146,000 tower sites, including around 40,000 in the U.S., 57,000 in India, 18,000 in Brazil, and 9,000 in Mexico. Other operations are located in Germany and France and throughout Latin America and Africa. Major customers include wireless carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile. The company operates as a real estate investment trust.
