Intevac Inc provides process manufacturing equipment solutions to the hard disk drive industry. It also offers high-productivity, thin-film processing systems to the PV industry and to adjacent markets for thin-film deposition applications.

Intevac develops the sputtering equipment used to apply thin films of magnetic recording media onto glass or aluminum platters used in hard disk drives. The company also develops imaging technology, such as spectroscopy systems used in forensics and hazardous waste management, and low-light optic devices, such as night vision goggles. The firm was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
