Guru Commentaries on NYSE:DAL
We believe Delta (DAL) is one of the best positioned airlines in the industry, trading at 5-6x projected earnings, significantly below historical levels of 8-9x. Despite potential earnings hits in a recession, we do not foresee a long-term impact on Delta's earnings power. In fact, a recession could lead to additional bankruptcies among weaker players, resulting in capacity reductions that would strengthen Delta's position. If Delta returns to its 2025 estimated earnings power and historical multiples in 5 years, it could yield an annual return of 11%. We think these estimates are conservative, and even in a recession, returns could be closer to 15-20% per year.
