GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Ryman Hospitality Properties Inc specializes in group-oriented, destination hotel assets in urban and resort markets.

Ryman Hospitality Properties is a real estate investment trust that focuses on group-oriented destination hotel assets in urban and resort markets in the United States. The company operates in Tennessee, Florida, Texas, and Washington, DC. The company's operations are divided into the hospitality unit, which includes hotel properties and operations; and the entertainment unit, which includes Grand Ole Opry assets, WSM-AM, and Nashville attractions. The hospitality unit can be further divided into rooms, food and beverage, and other hotel revenue. Ryman Hospitality derives the vast majority of its revenue from its hospitality segment and, within this, fairly evenly between food and beverage and rooms. Ryman's hotels operate under major brands, including Marriott and Gaylord.

Guru Investment Theses on Ryman Hospitality Properties Inc

Mario Gabelli Comments on Ryman Hospitality Properties - Feb 15, 2019

Ryman Hospitality Properties Inc. (NYSE:RHP) (2.1%) (RHP – $66.69 – NYSE) is the owner/operator of four large convention-centric hotels under the Gaylord brand. It also owns the Opryland brand and entertainment complex in Nashville, the city of its origin. As such, it has benefited from the growth in country music and consumer preference for live entertainment. The company’s hotels are group-focused, and bookings have remained strong due to a steady economic expansion in the United States and limited supply growth within the group-focused hotel market segment. Future growth will come from new hotels (likely established as joint ventures) and investment into existing properties as well as development of live entertainment venues. The company, which is structured as a REIT (real estate investment trust), provides a tax efficient dividend stream underwritten by the consistency of its cash flow. In time, we expect management to unlock additional value by executing a tax-free spin-off of the entertainment business.

Mario Gabelli Comments on Ryman Hospitality Properties - Dec 03, 2018

Ryman Hospitality Properties Inc. (2.2%) (NYSE:RHP) (RHP – $86.17 – NYSE) is the owner of five large convention-centric hotels under the Gaylord brand. It also owns the Opryland brand and entertainment complex in Nashville, the city of its origin. As such, it has benefited from the growth in country music and consumer preference for live entertainment. The company is structured as a REIT (real estate investment trust), providing an extra level of tax efficiency to enhance its investment attraction. The company’s hotels are group-centric, and revenues and bookings have remained strong due to its long and steady economic expansion in the United States. Future growth should come from new hotels (probably established as joint ventures) as well as development of additional live entertainment venues, one of which will open in Orlando later this year, and development of country music-focused content.

Mario Gabelli Comments on Ryman Hospitality Properties - Aug 18, 2017

Ryman_Hospitality_Properties_Inc._(NYSE:RHP)(0.2%)_(RHP__$64.01__NYSE) is a Nashville, Tennessee based REIT that owns group meeting-focused hotels in Nashville, Tennessee; Orlando, Florida; Dallas, Texas; and Washington, D.C. The company also owns a 35% stake in Gaylord Rockies, a 1,500 room development outside of Denver, Colorado, which is set to open in late 2018. Other assets include the iconic Opryland, the Ryman Auditorium, the General Jackson Showboat, and Nashville based radio station WSM-AM. The Ryman team is focused on taking advantage of strong convention bookings trends by investing capital into its existing properties and driving margin expansion by increasing occupancy and room rates. Finally, as the leading country music entertainment brand, the monetization of Ryman’s entertainment assets, including the Grand Ole Opry, remains a significant catalyst for RHP shares. Management has stated that it intends to separate the Opry & Attractions segment, most likely through a tax-free spinoff, once it reaches a size appropriate to operate as a standalone public company.
