Key Points

Positve
  • E.ON SE (ENAKF) delivered strong operational and financial performance in H1 2025, with an adjusted EBITDA of EUR5.5 billion and an adjusted net income of EUR1.9 billion, keeping them on track for their full-year guidance.
  • The company has accelerated its CapEx spending by 11% year-over-year, primarily in the Energy Networks business, supporting their growth strategy.
  • E.ON SE (ENAKF) has made significant progress in digitizing the German energy landscape, including the creation of a digital twin for their 700,000 kilometers power grid using the Envelio technology platform.
  • The company has entered into multiple capacity reservation agreements for critical grid components, securing deliveries worth up to EUR3 billion, which supports their investment plans and reduces costs.
  • E.ON SE (ENAKF) continues to see strong demand drivers in non-German markets, with increased CapEx in energy networks outside of Germany by 11%, driven by customer demand and innovation.
Negative
  • The regulatory proposals in Germany still fall short of industry and investor expectations, failing to create the financial conditions needed to attract additional capital.
  • The inclusion of redispatch costs into efficiency benchmarking is seen as penalizing grid operators who are advancing the energy transition, which could negatively impact E.ON SE (ENAKF).
  • There is uncertainty regarding the final regulatory framework for German power distribution starting in 2029, which could affect future investment plans.
  • The current proposals on the cost of equity and cost of debt are insufficient, potentially impacting E.ON SE (ENAKF)'s ability to remain competitive in attracting private capital.
  • The company faces challenges in managing operational bottlenecks, which could hinder their ability to maintain rapid connection times for renewable energy sources.
Iris Eveleigh
E.ON SE - Head of Investor Relations

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to our H1 2025 results call. I am here with Leon and Nadia, who will present our half year results. As with every occasion, we will leave enough room at the end for your questions.

With that, I hand immediately over to you, Leo.

Leonhard Birnbaum
E.ON SE - Chairman of the Management Board, Chief Executive Officer

Thank you, Iris. Warm welcome to all of you also from my side. Today is a special reporting day. It coincides with E.ON's 25th anniversary. We are really proud how we have successfully repositioned E.ON over the last years. We are a completely different company from what we have been 25 years ago or even 10 years ago. And as a result, we can credibly claim that we are the playmakers of the energy transition. But that said, we are not making a big fuss around this birthday because what truly matters, what truly matters to you is not the past, but what we deliver now and in the future. And therefore, let me get straight to my three key messages for today.
