GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Domino's Pizza Inc is a quick service pizza restaurant chain. It is engaged in retail sales of food, equipment and supplies to company-owned and franchised Domino's Pizza stores, and receipt of royalties and fees from Domino's Pizza franchisees.

Domino's is a quick service pizza restaurant chain with thousands of locations worldwide. It franchises most of its stores. The company has three main sources of revenue: royalties from franchisees based on a percentage of sales; sales made in company-owned stores; and sales of food, equipment, and supplies to franchisees through the company's supply chain segment. The supply chain segment generates more than half of Dominos' revenue. Its largest food cost is cheese, which it purchases from a single supplier for United States stores. Outside of the United States, the company's largest markets include India, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia, and Turkey.

Guru Investment Theses on Domino's Pizza Inc

Roger Edgley Comments on Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd. - Jun 06, 2017

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd. (NYSE:DPZ), a strong contributor to overall performance over the last several years, saw negative news headlines regarding franchise labor practices and profitability in Australia. We believe management has been forthright in discussing and addressing the issues and we remain positive on the long-term opportunity of the company.

Baron Funds Comments on Domino’s Pizza Group - Aug 10, 2016

Domino’s Pizza Group plc (NYSE:DPZ) holds the exclusive master franchise for Domino’s Pizza stores in the U.K., Ireland and Switzerland. We became interested in the company when the stock traded lower due to Brexit fears. Our feeling is that the company still has great growth prospects with an opportunity to grow its store base in the U.K. from under 900 units to over 1,200 in five years. We also think that the company will continue to grow same store sales in the mid- to high-single digits. One reason why we believe this is that Domino’s Pizza customers in the U.S. and Australia order nine times per year on average. In the U.K., while rates have been increasing, customers currently order only five times per year. We think that, over time, this gap will continue to close, helping to lift same store sales in the process.

Wasatch International Growth Fund Comments on Domino’s Pizza Group plc - Dec 08, 2015

In the U.K., the economy looks to be on solid footing with all of the main sectors of the economy growing. Solid domestic demand has been supported by economic data including inflation, employment, and wage growth numbers. There is concern that the strengthening currency could dampen economic activity, particularly for exporters. While a broad based economic recovery is favorable for companies in general, we believe our holdings are market leaders in their respective categories and are capable of driving organic growth over the long term. For example, Domino’s Pizza Group plc (NYSE:DPZ), another top contributor in the portfolio this quarter, continues to grow organically through innovation and strong execution. The company is leveraging the Internet and technology to drive the customer proposition and efficiencies throughout the organization. This is resulting in strong same-store-sales, margin expansion and cash generation.

Baron Funds Comments on Domino’s Pizza Group PLC - Nov 03, 2015

Domino’s Pizza Group PLC (NYSE:DPZ) is the master franchisee of the Domino’s Pizza brand in the U.K., Ireland and other European countries. The company entered continental Europe with the goal of replicating its success in the U.K. When its share price corrected substantially due to lack of progress in Germany, we built a position on the belief that the market had overpenalized it for the weakness in Germany and that its business there would make progress. During the third quarter, the company reported earnings that demonstrated a solid turnaround in Germany. (Kyuhey August)
