We made significant additions to our holdings in JBT Marel (JBTM). JBT Marel manufactures food processing equipment and has a long history of consistent earnings growth in a relatively non-cyclical end market. We were able to purchase shares at a valuation of approximately 11x earnings.
JBT Marel, a provider of food-and-beverage processing technology, detracted during the period due to tariff uncertainty and software integration issues. These challenges have impacted its performance, leading us to reassess our position in the company. While we recognize the potential in the food processing sector, the current headwinds have prompted us to exit our investment in JBT Marel as we seek to focus on more stable opportunities.
We made significant additions to our holding in JBT Marel (JBTM), which manufactures food processing equipment and has a history of impressive earnings consistency and growth in a relatively non-cyclical end market. This consistent performance positions JBT Marel favorably within its industry, and we believe it represents a strong investment opportunity.
JBT Marel is a leading global technology solutions provider to high-value segments of the food and beverage industry. We reduced and ultimately exited the position as we believe the anticipated synergies from Marel’s acquisition of JBT in early 2025 are largely reflected in the share price. In addition, we became more cautious regarding the potential impact of rising tariffs on key commodity inputs and the resulting implications for the company’s cost structure and customer base.
