Tesla (TSLA, Financial) has announced a new six-seater version of the Model Y, named "Model YL," set to launch in the fall. While the pricing has not been disclosed, it is expected to be between the current Model Y and Model X, around 400,000 RMB. Tesla revealed this update via its official Weibo account, highlighting the Model YL as a flagship model from the Shanghai Gigafactory. This luxury pure electric SUV offers a wheelbase over 3 meters and an approximate length of 5 meters.
The Model YL features all-wheel drive, extensive range, spacious interior, and premium features. The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a new vehicle product announcement, listing the Tesla-branded "pure electric multi-purpose passenger vehicle." According to the registration details, the Model YL is a six-seater vehicle with dimensions of 4997mm in length, 1920mm in width, and 1668mm in height, making it approximately 200mm longer than the current domestic Model Y.
