The FTSE China A50 Index, previously known as the FTSE–Xinhua China A50 Index, is a benchmark stock market index composed of 50 of the largest A-share companies listed on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges. It is calculated using a market capitalization-weighted methodology. Only A-shares are included, which are shares of mainland China companies traded in RMB ¥ on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges. The index does not include B-shares, which are traded in foreign currencies and are typically more accessible to foreign investors.
