With headquarters in Chicago, the firm competes with Airbus in commercial aviation and with Lockheed, Northrop and several other firms in defense. Sales are split about 70% and 30% between commercial aircraft and defense end markets.

Net earnings for the third quarter of 2019 were $1.17 billion compared to $2.36 billion for the comparable period of 2018.
