On Sept. 23, Southwest Airlines Co.(LUV, Financial) Chairman and CEO Gary Kelly appeared on CNBC's "Squawk on the Street" to discuss the airline industry.
Southwest's business is down 70% from this time last year as a result of the ongoing pandemic. While he had hoped that the industry would have recovered by now, the Paycheck Protection Program has allowed the company to stay neutral for the last two quarters and helped prevent it from losing $3 billion. The company has about $15 billion in the bank to weather this pandemic. The company has seen pretty stable operations for the last two months and has been trying to maintain its business throughout this crisis.
