Time to Buy Research In Motion?

A contrarian view on RIMM. The valuation is conservative. There is a lot of uncertainty with the situation. At this price, it seems to be a higher upside, low downside position.

Supervalu Is a Super Investment Value

A poor-run company which is probably not as bad as it is. But the management is not trustworthy, the financial situation is bad, although it might be getting better. Overall risk is high.

Aflac - Value Idea Contest

Please follow the required format for contest submissions. Aspects such as financial strength, management, valuation needs to be covered. Preferred in sections.

Applied Materials offers stability within the volatile tech sector

An interesting idea in a tough business. The stock maybe undervalued.

RIM Success Lies in Paradox

A detailed review of a one-time hot company. The stock is now traded at liquidation value. The perception from the market is all negative. The downside risk seems to be small.

The performances of the contest submissions are tracked here.

Performance Review

Among the ideas submitted in April and June, QUAD (see A Great Company at a Wonderful Price in a Terrible Industry - QUAD) gained 27%. Leucadia (LUK) (see Value Contest Submission - Leucadia) has lost almost 8% since submitted in April. FLIR lost 4% and ONE lost 20%.

The contest is open for August. The deadline for each month’s submission is the end of the month. Please submit. If your submission doubled within 12 months of submission, you will win $1000.
