This interview is an interesting run-down of Modern China. Definitely worth a listen for those interested in the possibilities of investing in China.

For those who are a little more serious about research, I recommend a daily reading of local Chinese news. I read China Daily US Edition and Xinhua Daily. I prefer the former, but I always like to get at least 2 sources if possible.

I came across today a piece of news I missed from my national media.

Let's see. New York took six years to build an ice skating rink. China takes one year to build a city the size of Houston.

Yes, you could say I am investing in China.

How is W. Buffett investing in China?

Previously W. Buffett invested in PetroChina and did well. I don't know about BYD. Also, he may be looking at Coca Cola and Heinz as a China play. And possibly railroads shipping coal to China. But that's all speculation on my part.

Buffett does still hold 10% of BYD Company - maker of electric vehicles and mobile phone components. I have not looked into the fundamentals of this company yet.

The EV industry in China, as elsewhere, is in its infancy. Those of us who are optimistic about environmental policies of the future will be bullish on the electric vehicle industry. Therefore, the question becomes... "is now a good time to invest in companies like BYD? Or should we wait until there becomes a clearer picture of govt. policy & cooperation with industry?"
