Good afternoon, everyone, I'm Douglas Flint, Chairman of Standard Life Aberdeen, and it's my great pleasure to welcome you to our 2019 Annual General Meeting here in Edinburgh. This is my first AGM as the company's Chairman, having taken on this role at the start of the year. I've been looking forward to meeting you and talking with you here today.
This is a great company with a great future, thanks to the hard work and dedication of everyone who works here and the continuing support of our clients and you, our shareholders. I'm very proud to be taking over from my predecessor, Sir Gerry Grimstone, to lead the process of achieving our ambitions and so deliver the kind of value that you, as our shareholders, expect from us.
Before we get started, I'd like to say a quick thank you for bearing with us through the new security measures here today. As you may have noticed, these have been enhanced since our last Shareholder Meeting. I'm afraid this is a sign of the times, but it's for our collective benefit. Also
