OpenAI employees might soon have the opportunity to sell a portion of their shares, following the company's recent $6.6 billion funding round. This news comes from an internal company memo, which indicated that OpenAI plans to offer liquidity options to eligible employees through a tender offer. The company's Chief Financial Officer, Sarah Friar, mentioned in the memo that they are currently working on the details and intend to share more information with employees at a later date.
The latest funding round, led by venture capital firm Thrive Capital, nearly doubled OpenAI's valuation from $86 billion to $157 billion. Notable investors in this round include Microsoft, which invested close to $1 billion, and Nvidia, which contributed approximately $100 million.
