Uniqlo Parent Fast Retailing (9983) Hits Record High with Strong Profit Growth

The Nikkei 225 Index rose by 0.6%, closing at 39,605.80 points, as investors adjusted their positions ahead of the weekend. Market sentiment was influenced by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, contributing to investor caution.

Fast Retailing (9983, Financial), the parent company of Uniqlo, surged 6.1% to reach a record closing high. The company reported a new record in annual profits, driving its stock upward. Other notable gainers included MonotaRO and Fujikura, with increases of 6.0% and 5.5%, respectively.

The USD/JPY exchange rate stood at 148.67, slightly lower than the 149.24 recorded at the close of the Tokyo market the previous day. Meanwhile, the yield on 10-year Japanese government bonds fell by 1 basis point to 0.945%.
