Amazon (AMZN, Financial) is reportedly planning to increase its investment in the generative AI startup Anthropic. Previously, Amazon invested $4 billion in the company. According to insiders, the new round of investment could amount to several billion dollars. This investment may come with the condition that Anthropic utilizes servers powered by Amazon's AI chips.

In November 2023, Amazon introduced two AI-focused chips, Graviton 4 and Trainium 2. Currently, Anthropic typically employs AI chips developed by NVIDIA (NVDA).

Last month, Anthropic was in negotiations with investors to raise additional funds, potentially valuing the company at around $40 billion. In contrast, its competitor OpenAI recently secured $6.6 billion in funding, boosting its valuation to $157 billion.
