The European Commission and national consumer protection agencies have notified Apple of potentially prohibited geoblocking practices related to certain Apple media services, including the App Store, Apple Arcade, Music, iTunes Store, Books, and Podcasts.
According to the statement, the restrictions applied by Apple based on consumers' residence are deemed illegal under EU regulations, as they discriminate against European consumers. These limitations affect online access, payment methods, and downloads.
The Consumer Protection Cooperation Network (CPC) has requested Apple to align its practices with the EU's anti-geoblocking regulations, urging the company to make necessary adjustments.
