Market research firm Canalys reported on the third-quarter 2024 market share of smartphone processor manufacturers. According to the data, Apple remains the top processor manufacturer by smartphone shipment revenue, holding 41% of the market value thanks to the high prices of its iPhones. Qualcomm follows in second place with a 28% market value share, largely due to its Snapdragon series processors. MediaTek ranks third, capturing 17% of the market share.
In terms of shipment volume, MediaTek maintains a strong position in the smartphone processor market. Despite a 4% year-over-year decline in shipments to 119.3 million units, MediaTek still holds a 38% market share. Qualcomm is in second place with 76 million units shipped, marking a 4% increase and a 24% market share. Apple shipped 54 million units, achieving a 9% growth, and holds an 18% share of total shipments, ranking third.
HiSilicon, known for its Kirin SoCs, is noted as the fastest-growing smartphone processor manufacturer with a 211% increase in shipments. This growth is attributed to Huawei's successful integration of Kirin SoCs into its mid-range smartphones, significantly boosting HiSilicon's shipment volumes.
In the third quarter, flagship AI smartphone SoCs dominated the market in terms of value. The top three processor models by smartphone shipment revenue were all flagship AI smartphone SoCs, collectively generating $54 billion in revenue.
