Spotify announced changes to its Web API access, restricting several features like song and artist recommendations. This move aims to prevent third-party developers from using Spotify's audience data to build AI applications. The decision addresses security challenges and curbs API misuse, particularly data scraping. Affected features include Audio Analysis, Audio Features, and algorithm-generated playlists. Spotify has been developing AI music models, already launching products such as AI DJ and AI playlists based on these models. The changes will only impact developers with limited API access, while official partners remain unaffected.
