Baltic Dry Index Rises, Ending Seven-Day Decline

The Baltic Dry Index (BDI, Financial) increased to 1,167 points, up 0.60%, halting a seven-day losing streak. This rise was driven by gains in larger vessel rates. The Capesize Index (BCI) rose to 1,535 points, a 0.33% increase, despite a 28% decline over the week. Capesize vessels, which transport around 150,000 tons of goods like iron ore and coal, saw average daily earnings increase by $37 to $12,727. Meanwhile, the Panamax Index (BPI) climbed 2.60% to 1,067 points, achieving a weekly gain of 4.8%. Panamax ships, carrying 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, had daily earnings rise by $242 to $9,606. The Supramax Index (BSI) slightly decreased by 0.51% to 974 points.
