Jolt Cola, famous in the 1980s for its "all the sugar and twice the caffeine," is set to return to stores in 2025. This time, it promises more than double the original caffeine content. Previously marketed as an alternative to Coca-Cola and Pepsi, Jolt Cola will now compete in the crowded energy drink market alongside brands like Red Bull, Monster, and CELSIUS.
Redcon1, a sports nutrition brand, is leading the relaunch, positioning Jolt Cola as a nostalgic beverage. According to Redcon1's Chief Marketing Officer, Ryan Monahan, there is a clever way to bring back something from the past with a modern twist. Jolt Cola will be sold in 16-ounce cans priced around $2.50 to $3, containing 200 milligrams of caffeine. In comparison, a 12-ounce can in 1985 contained about 70 milligrams.
This marks Jolt Cola's third launch in the U.S., following a brief return to Dollar General stores in 2017 and a cessation in 2019 after its company's 2009 bankruptcy filing.
