BHP Group has announced a 10% year-on-year increase in copper production for the six months ending December 31. This growth is primarily attributed to the robust performance of the Escondida mine in Chile, which saw a 22% rise in output, reaching its highest level in a decade.

The increased copper production from Chile has helped offset declines at BHP's copper mines in South Australia, where operations faced disruptions due to thunderstorms and power outages.
