Meta (META, Financial) is set to release at least six AI-powered wearable devices this year, Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth told employees, according to Business Insider, citing an internal memo from November.
The memo, titled "2025: The Year of Greatness," was posted on Meta's internal forum, Workplace. In it, Bosworth emphasized the importance of driving sales, retention, and engagement—especially in mixed reality (MR)—and highlighted the need for Horizon Worlds on mobile to expand its reach for Meta's long-term success.
"This year likely determines whether this entire effort will go down as the work of visionaries or a legendary misadventure," Bosworth wrote.
The comments follow Business Insider's report last week that Reality Labs exceeded nearly all its sales and user targets for 2024, with revenue growing 40% for the year. In Q4, Reality Labs posted $1.08 billion in revenue and an operating loss of $4.97 billion.
Bosworth also highlighted Meta's focus on smaller, more agile teams, suggesting they often outperform larger teams in speed and results. He urged employees to take pride in their work, calling 2025 a defining moment for the company's AI and wearable technology strategy.
