HP Inc. (HPQ, Financials) signed a software licensing agreement with 3D intelligence firm Structure, enabling its clients to develop 3D scanning applications as part of its broader 3D printing services, according to a Monday statement.
Under the deal, HP will include Structure's AI-powered Software Development Kit into its platform, therefore providing consumers with sophisticated 3D scanning capabilities. With an eye toward broad industry adoption, the effort supports HP's end-to-end 3D printing approach.
Head of 3D design at HP Pierre Kaiser said the alliance gives customers top 3D scanning technologies to improve the technological products of the business.
Over 300 apps, catering to startups and big businesses, have been developed using Structure SDK. Along with 3D scanning via its Structure 3 scanner and iOS-based Structure Capture software, the company—which broke out from 3D imaging pioneer Occipital in 2022—offers.
Structure's CEO, Ravi Shah, stated the SDK platform lets developers construct fresh apps for 3D printing, thus enhancing patient outcomes in healthcare.
Offering goods and services spanning computer, printing, and 3D technologies, HP runs in more than 170 countries, according to a statement. Structure focuses on 3D scanning and artificial intelligence-driven healthcare applications, offering technologies utilized by around 150,000 doctors globally, the company said.
