BlackRock, the world's largest asset management firm, is set to expand its operations in India by hiring nearly 1,200 professionals. The company is focusing on enhancing its capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) across two support centers located in Mumbai and Gurgaon, a satellite city near New Delhi.
According to sources familiar with the matter, BlackRock plans to acquire a data company, Preqin, which will include taking over a global capability center in Bangalore employing approximately 500 people. Currently, BlackRock's offices in Gurgaon and Mumbai employ around 3,500 staff members.
The firm aims to build a robust AI team, intending to recruit engineers and data specialists once plans are finalized. BlackRock, headquartered in New York, has not provided any comments regarding this recruitment initiative.
