Tesla (TSLA, Financial) is ramping up its efforts to produce the Optimus humanoid robot on a large scale at its Fremont, California facility. The company has announced numerous job openings related to the project, with at least 16 positions available. These roles include manufacturing engineers, production managers, process supervisors, and production supervisors, and more roles may be added.

Posts on LinkedIn by Tesla employees highlight the need for a substantial recruitment of engineers to transform the Tesla robot concept into reality. Elon Musk has also shared posts related to these job openings on Twitter, emphasizing the company's focus on mass production.

The job descriptions for these roles underline a strong focus on scalable production. Production managers are tasked with swiftly implementing process changes, introducing new products, and improving projects in a controlled manner. Process supervisors will manage a team of technical staff to achieve world-class manufacturing of Tesla's advanced humanoid AI robots. Manufacturing engineers will collaborate with hardware and production teams to transition actuator designs from prototype to mass production, developing flexible machine concepts to minimize complexity and cost.

According to Musk’s timeline, Tesla aims to mass-produce the Optimus robot by 2025, targeting an annual production of 10,000 units and expanding capacity to 1,000 units per month. By 2026, monthly production is expected to reach 10,000 units, and by 2027, 100,000 units.
