Sohu (SOHU, Financial) has released its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2024. The company reported a total revenue of $135 million for the fourth quarter, maintaining a stable annual revenue of $598 million compared to the previous year.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, Sohu's revenue was primarily driven by brand advertising and online gaming. Brand advertising contributed $19 million, while online gaming generated $110 million. For the entire year, brand advertising brought in $73 million, and online gaming accounted for $502 million of the total revenue.
Chairman and CEO Charles Zhang noted that the brand advertising revenue met the high end of their expectations, and both online gaming revenue and net loss were significantly better than anticipated.
Sohu's media platform has been enhancing its product offerings and optimizing algorithms while maintaining strict cost controls. By leveraging its product matrix and unique IP resources, Sohu has improved user experience and increased user engagement, which has unlocked further commercialization opportunities.
The online gaming sector also performed well, attributed to the launch of high-quality new games and meticulous management of classic games, ensuring a stable performance in this segment.
