NVIDIA's first Arm-based PC chip, the N1X, developed in collaboration with MediaTek, has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. The results, however, have been less than impressive. In the Geekbench tests, the N1X scored 1169 in single-core and 2417 in multi-core performance.

When compared to Apple's current M4 chip, which is also based on Arm architecture, the N1X falls short. The M4 chip achieves a single-core score of 3831 and a multi-core score of 15044. Even the base version of the M4 significantly outperforms the N1X, with the M4 Max-equipped MacBook pushing multi-core performance beyond 25000.

It is important to note that the N1X chip registered on Geekbench is a quad-core CPU, but the test was conducted with a dual-core, dual-thread configuration, which does not align with its "high-end" positioning. Additionally, the chip's default frequency is listed at 3.2GHz, suggesting that it is still in the early stages of development. Therefore, the Geekbench data might not reflect the final product's performance.

NVIDIA plans to release the N1X in 2025, followed by a more mainstream N1 version in 2026. Both chips are expected to be manufactured using TSMC's N3 process and designed in partnership with MediaTek.
