The Stargate Project, an AI initiative announced by former President Trump in January, is expected to require 64,000 Nvidia (NVDA, Financial) GB200 GPUs by 2026, Bloomberg reported.
The project, led by OpenAI, Oracle (ORCL, Financial), and SoftBank (SFTBY, Financial), will receive an initial batch of 16,000 GPUs by this summer, with the rest arriving by next year, the report added, citing a source familiar with the details. The GPU demand is reportedly for just one data center and a single customer, highlighting the scale of the initiative. OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle, and Nvidia did not immediately comment on the report.
The Stargate Project, backed by Microsoft (MSFT, Financial) and Arm (ARM, Financial), aims to deploy $100 billion initially, with a $500 billion total investment over four years. The first data center buildout has begun in Texas, with up to 10 sites planned across the U.S.
