Recent reports suggested that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) might propose a joint venture with NVIDIA (NVDA), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Broadcom (AVGO) to operate an Intel (INTC) chip plant. However, TSMC board member Liu Jingqing dismissed these rumors, explaining that integrating differing technologies from these companies could be as challenging as mixing diesel and gasoline. He confirmed that TSMC's board has never discussed acquiring Intel's foundry division.
Liu emphasized TSMC's commitment to maintaining its core operations and advanced processes predominantly in Taiwan before considering expansion to the United States. He stated that the group's priority is to adhere to these principles consistently.
