JD.com (JD) Restructures to Enhance Marketing Efficiency

JD.com (JD, Financial) has officially announced the dissolution of its Group Brand Department, with its responsibilities and personnel being integrated into the Platform Marketing Department. This restructuring aims to streamline the organization and enhance the efficiency of its service operations.

Following this adjustment, the specific position and reporting line for Xu Cong, the former head of the Brand Department, remain unclear. Xu Cong joined JD.com in April 2024 as the head of brand marketing. He has previously held positions at Unilever, PepsiCo, Kodak China, Philips Asia Pacific, and HSBC. Xu is most notably recognized as the former Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of McDonald's China.

According to JD.com's financial report, the company achieved a total revenue of 1.1588 trillion RMB in 2024, marking a 6.8% increase year-over-year. In the fourth quarter of the same year, JD.com reported a revenue of 347 billion RMB, representing a 13.4% growth compared to the previous year. The net profit attributable to common shareholders for 2024 was 41.4 billion RMB, up from 24.2 billion RMB in 2023.
